Antioxidant and Antibacterial Effects of Pollen Extracts on Human Multidrug-Resistant Pathogenic Bacteria

نویسندگان

چکیده

The present work was designed to search the possible antibacterial effect of ethanolic extract pollens from six botanical origins, Punica granatum, Quercus ilex, Centaurium erythraea, Coriandrum sativum, Ruta graveolens, and Citrus aurantium, against multidrug pathogenic bacteria, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter cloacae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus. content phenolic compounds, flavones, flavonols measured. antioxidant activities were evaluated using four assays: total capacity, DPPH, ABTS, reducing power. Antibacterial activity studied agar disk diffusion method, MIC MBC determined. Results obtained showed a positive correlation between pollen extracts granatum ilex most efficient Gram-positive Gram-negative graveolens had moderate effect, while aurantium no effect. It is concluded that can be good source bioactive molecules exhibit potent effects strong activities.
